Live TV streams use a lot of data. They are considerably larger than the video streams that come from streaming services like Netflix or Hulu.

Because of this, you need to make sure your home network is fast enough to stream this video from your HDHomeRun to your streaming devices.

Almost all troubleshooting with Channels is related to network issues. So be sure your home network is healthy, fast, and free of any kind of hacks.

Wired network

A wired Ethernet network is highly suggested. If possible, ensure that your streaming device is attached to your network via Ethernet.

A wired network will give you the best experience.

Note: For Channels subscribers, the computer running Channels DVR Server is required to be wired to your router if you’re using an HDHomeRun as a source.

Wireless network

If your streaming devices are on your WiFi network, you’ll need at least a router rated for 802.11AC to ensure your video can stream without problems.

Older wireless networks just aren’t fast enough to stream the video all over your house.
